About the time Mike Nonella was born, his father Roy was starting Nonella Construction. Nearly 45 years later, Mike Nonella has been president of Nonella Construction, Inc. for the past decade. Mike worked for his father before he received a degree in architecture and construction management from Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo in 1986 and worked as a project manager before becoming the president of the company.

Nonella Construction works in the commercial sector exclusively, their projects including office, winery, retail, light industrial, multi-unit residential and site improvements. Mike Nonella says one of the keys for his company's success is "taking projects you can handle". One recent project that falls into that category is the 40,000 square foot custom bulk wine storage facility that Nonella Construction built in the Airport Business Park in Santa Rosa.

Recently Nonella Construction built a two-story, 10,000 square foot commercial office/retail building in Sebastopol (pictured at left). Mike Nonella, along with his business partners, own the building and had commitments from tenants who moved in upon completion of the structure. "Having the tenants come in prior is an advantage because we can complete the tenant improvements as we complete the building and that saves time and money," says Nonella.

LeDuc & Dexter executed a design/build plumbing plan for Nonella Construction on the commercial building in Sebastopol, "It helps streamline the design process and puts it all under one roof with LeDuc & Dexter instead of using a mechanical engineer that the Architect hires," explains Nonella. Nonella Construction has worked with LeDuc & Dexter for many years, "LeDuc & Dexter is on our select list of subcontractors," says Nonella, "They have the ability to man the job and years of experience. Bill Zeeb's expertise is a huge factor."

As for the expertise that Nonella Construction can offer its customers in the building process, Mike Nonella sees it as more than just the project completion, "Helping the customer get through the red tape and protecting their interests in the long run, by being accountable beyond project completion, is really important to us."
